Very few people know this about the Formula 1 legend
With 7 world championship titles, 91 victories, 155 podium finishes, and 77 of the fastest race laps, Michael Schumacher is and remains the most successful Formula 1 driver of all time. But the likable Schumi is also a huge crowd-pleaser, which is why his serious skiing accident at the end of 2013 hit us all the more.
But how much do you really know about the racing legend? Most people don’t know the 7 facts on the following article yet..
Schumi seems to love the thrill and counts skydiving among his favorite hobbies. For this he even acquired a jumper’s license, which enabled him to jump out of the plane on his own, which he did at the end of 2012. His wife Corinna jumped with him (but as a tandem with a parachute instructor) and the two even kissed in the air!
2. Football fan
Schumi is an avowed fan of the 1st FC Cologne and is even a member of the club. By the way, he is listed there under the membership number 1.0371.
In addition, he has also been involved in Swiss amateur clubs for many years: he has already appeared in the jerseys of FC Echichens and FC Aubonne!
3. Movie star
The German Formula 1 icon can be seen in the film “Asterix at the Olympic Games”, where he embodies ‘Schumix’, a Germanic chariot racer with (of course!) a red chariot and four horses. Also in the film is Jean Todt, who was team leader of Ferrari in real life during Schumi’s engagement.
Following the temporary termination of his career in Formula 1, the German worked as a consultant for the Formula 1 team Scuderia. For example, he was involved in the development of the Ferrari California, for which he also completed the final driving test. He relinquished his consulting activities in 2009 to announce his comeback in Formula 1 at Mercedes.
On the day that Schumacher joined Ferrari, Father Don Alberto took over the parish in Maranello, the town where the Ferrari factory is located and where the racing team has its headquarters. From then on, Father Alberto rang the church bells for every Ferrari victory.
And: He gave up his office almost at the same time as Schumi’s temporary career end.
6. Luxembourg license
At the beginning of his racing career, Schumi started with a Luxembourg license. But why? In Luxembourg, such a license can be obtained at the age of 12, but in Germany it is only available two years later. And we all know: Early is good practice!
Moreover, the Luxembourg license is easier to maintain, as it requires considerably fewer races, for example.
Even if it is his trademark, Schumi can’t get much out of his chin, as he once revealed in an interview with the Romanian playboy; he finds it anything but attractive.
In the German-speaking world, however, the term ‘Schumi chin’ has become quite common over the years! Especially since Schumi not only has a character chin, but also the right strong personality. We want him to enjoy all that life has to offer for what’s to come!
